Sheila Renae Dalgliesh has been part of several teams that have improved the presence and awareness of creativity in Grand Forks and rural North Dakota. These include ArtWise, the North Dakota Museum of Art and the Grand Forks Public Schools. She is currently part of the team building the Grand Forks Children’s Museum.

Growing up in rural North Dakota, Sheila spent her childhood on grand outdoor adventures. These adventures included, but are not limited to; jumping on hay bales, losing her new school shoes in the slough and building forts in the woods. Her love for winter experiences has sparked inspiration into her adulthood as she sketches in her snowshoes in search of beaver dams.

“There is no linear progression, my progress is meandering. I like finding and observing beauty where others may see none. The weeds, wild cucumber plants strung beautifully from the trees,  the cockelbur in my socks are part of a landscape I try to capture in my drawing and paintings. Lately, I have been enjoying the ease of using chalk pastels. I find the pastels allow me to capture the joy of what is my home.”
